Residential architects
Harper Latter Architects is a residential architecture practice based in Wimbledon, with 30 years’ experience designing new homes, extensions and refurbishments. We take on projects across London and welcome enquiries from homeowners in Hampstead. Our architects are fully qualified and accredited with the Architects Registration Board and RIBA.

We design new homes, extensions and refurbishments, and our work covers basements, listed buildings and conservation, interior architecture, garden and landscape design, and sustainable design. Much of our completed work is in Wimbledon and South West London, and the same team brings that experience to your Hampstead home.
Whether you are reworking a period house, extending a family home or adding a basement, one team looks after your project from first brief to completed home. You can read more about what we do on our services page.
Hampstead has one of London’s best-known conservation areas, designated by the London Borough of Camden, and the neighbourhood includes listed buildings. In conservation areas and for listed buildings, alterations often need planning permission or listed building consent, and permitted development rights can be restricted. We advise you on what applies to your property at the outset and manage the planning application if one is needed.
Every project begins with a free 30-minute consultation, and our free site and cost report brings together your property’s planning context, relevant history and, where the information supports it, an indicative construction cost guide.
Our design process runs in eight clear stages, from outline proposal and brief through sketch designs, the planning application, detailed design and tender, to on-site construction support and completion. You choose how involved we are at each stage.

Yes. We are based in Wimbledon and take on residential projects across London, including Hampstead. Every project begins with a free 30-minute consultation.
It depends on the house and the street. Hampstead has a designated conservation area and the neighbourhood includes listed buildings, both of which remove or restrict some permitted development rights. We establish exactly what applies to your property before any design work begins.
Fees depend on the scope of your project and how involved you would like us to be at each stage. Our free site and cost report gives you an indicative construction cost guide, and we set out a clear fee proposal after the initial consultation.
Most householder applications are decided within about eight weeks of validation, although proposals involving listed buildings or conservation areas can take longer. We manage the application on your behalf and keep you informed at each step.
